Record the Serial Number! There is not a more important step. This is the best thing you can do for yourself to guarantee proof of rightful ownership.
Take Pictures of you bike: Make sure to get new pictures with each upgraded component.
File a police report: Hopefully you'll have followed instructions of step one above and recorded the serial number for law enforcement records.
