One Senator Up. One Down.

I would like to take a moment to thank Sen. Bill Nelson who voted with the Senate majority rejecting an amendment introduced by former presidential candidate and well known hater of alternative transportation, Sen. John McCain that would have gutted the funding for bicycle and rail infrastructure.

On a down side Sen. George LeMieux recently hand picked by Gov. Crist to replace Mel Martinez' voted for the McCain amendment.

Bike Jax in the News

This months EU Jacksonville has a nice article on Bike Jax. Pick up the free printed version at locations around town. Or, you can read it online HERE.

I highly suggest waiting until after you have eaten before reading. The guy pictured just may put you off food for an extended length of time otherwise.

Don't Steal Bikes, Bro

Here's the story according to Prolly's Blog: A bike messenger locks his bike to meet his friends at a cafe. Same messenger comes out later to use phone and watches as a guy looking over his bike pulls out a cordless drill to drill out the u-lock of the watching messengers bike.

Below is the video how the messenger and friends reacted to the bike thief.

Please note that despite the fact that this guy was caught red handed attempting to steal a bike. The guys who caught him used a fair amount of restraint on their part. The bike thief was not bleeding or visibly injured. Just scarred to death and most likely, currently pursing the classifieds seeking a new line of work.
