Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) has finally agreed to allow bicycles on the Skyway on a test basis. Starting Saturday October 5th through May of 2014 JTA will allow bikes on the trains every 1st Saturday of the month for Community First Saturday's.
New JTA Pilot Program Tests Bikes on the Skyway during Community First Saturdays
JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – October 2, 2013 – With the growing number of bike riders in the community, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is pleased to announce that duringCommunity First Saturdays, the agency will permit bikes on its Skyway service.
Starting this Saturday, October 5, 2013 the JTA is encouraging customers to bring their bikes onto the Skyway during all Community First Saturdaysthroughout the season (October 2013 – May 2014).
“As we incorporate our Bikes on Buses (BOB) program, we’ve had many of our riders also request to bring their bikes on the Skyway as well,” said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr. “As an initial testing phase, we are offering our biking community the opportunity to load their bikes onto the Skyway during Community First Saturdays which fall on the following dates:

We are encouraging everyone to ride to a Skyway station and board with your bike. With this being a test period and JTA not placing restrictions during the test days, please be respectful to passengers without bikes so that we can keep this new found access.
